Monday Morning Minute, March 20, 2023
… you can scroll down, but if you have an EXTRA minute, please read this first:
I’m glitch-fixin’; instead of Monday Morning, it’s a mid-afternoon Minute!
I apologize - I think it isn’t the system; it’s me ‘learning it.’
Last week when I sent the ‘we are moving announcement’; if you haven’t already, please help by confirming your current email address and wish to continue a free subscription by clicking the ‘subscribe button’ .. this will ‘put you on/keep you on’ the ‘Monday Morning Minute’ list, and you can confirm your continued subscription by choosing from the options that pop up.
All readers, new ones who found us this week, and long-time fans:
Most of you are long-time readers (more than 22,000 of you at last count), we’ve transferred you over to the Substack platform (which I love!), and there are some glitches we newcomers have to work through, so after last week’s stumble getting this to you in a timely fashion first thing in the morning, well-intentioned as it was, something else is ‘not right yet’ but hopefully will be by tomorrow so that next week’s ‘100 words + a quote morning starter’ will arrive in your inbox as you’ve come to expect. As time passes, expect to see different end-bits and notices of things we are adding for paid subscribers, but the main bits continue!
And, a huge debt of thanks from me to all of you who want to continue receiving this publication, but with particular mention of three of you - people I wish to celebrate today. Three early-confirming subscribers and donors who showed their appreciation this past week when I began publishing here - yes, your cash is helpful, of course, but there is more to this, and I want to tell you all and single them out for high praise …
You gave me three important gifts:
You showed your belief, support and appreciation - whether this is for me personally, for the writing, or both - I’m so thankful …
You were going to continue getting Monday Morning Minute for free, BUT you’ve chosen to be the first readers to pay me for it. As any writer will tell you, that’s money in the bank, but it supersedes that; it's not a kick in the pants - it’s higher up, called a pat on the back, and there are times when this leaves me short on just the right words
You don’t know yet what the extra value of being a paid or donor sponsor will deliver in the coming months and years, but you’ve trusted me that there will be value - thank you so much. The number of NEW subscribers last week was not a large number, but 95% percent of you coming along to our new home; that’s great, and I appreciate you. But there are three of you who did something more; their reaction and their action were palpable. I must tell you, and I must take this opportunity to tell them. The first notification came through within an hour of that notification to you all, a $100.00 donation from someone far away geographically, someone I’ve never met - it came without a phone call, without a note (though I am surely reaching out to him directly with a private thank you). The next was the first annual subscription from someone I know, and I appreciate his support, too - it came through a few minutes later. Add to that, someone from my Mark’s Musings publication which I migrated over to Substack as well (our first Musing went out from Substack this morning), sent an unsolicited donation of $100.00 last night after getting a preview look at the publication. There are more, and I expect I’ll be no less grateful to the next subscribers as I am to these early adopters, but I will be grateful to them and many others for their financial support, but these three lifted me up with their kindness and moral support, and whether or not they expected it to be emotional for me, it was. It is. I’m amazed and a bit dazed by their kind gestures.
Thank you for indulging me with a little reading first, and now, here’s your morning minute for your late afternoon enjoyment:
