~ 100 words + an inspirational quote - to start your week, start your meeting or start you thinking ~

This first issue on this platform was delayed - some first-time glitches ..

New subscribers are welcome to join us.

More than 22,000 subscribers for Monday Morning Minute were imported to the platform first, so they were keen, as I was to see this issue loaded and distributed.

I would love your feedback if you could take a moment to answer the poll question at the bottom of this post

Monday Morning Minute - March 13, 2023

We grow weary of it all – arguing with stupid people, viral media falseness, soapbox talking-head boasts, and self-appointed zealots. We get to a point when we struggle to separate wisdom and fact because we are awash in social media spewing opinions as fact with firehose force – momentary noisy splashes. We celebrate every voice having a free speech right. But we need truths and trust more than we need unavoidable noise. Are we capitulating or standing up for truth and credibility? Just because we get weary, we can’t capitulate. Facts matter. We need fiction too, but one is not the other.

Quote for today: It’s never too late to be what you might’ve been. – George Eliot

Mark writes here is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

History of Monday Morning Minute: the first MMM was published on September 24, 2018, to fewer than 100 readers. Since then, the weekly readership has grown to over 24,000. Paid subscribers can also access the archives we’ve imported to the Substack platform which we joined in March 2023. We look forward to reaching more readers for this week's post and other writing we will post here.

About Substack: I’ve joined the Substack community of writers, readers and publications. As a subscriber, free or paid, to Monday Morning Minute, you have access to a wide range of reading resources across a diverse range of genres, newsletters, op-eds, essays and other writing.

Watch for buttons than can quickly link you to my ‘recommended’ writers and publications. While many of these writers offer a paid subscription service, a lot of them offer a free or trial option so there are plenty of reading rabbit holes to wander down. Also, as you explore the platform you’ll find more than reading - especially if you are a writer yourself, Substack will help you in the background to show your writing to others who write in the same genre and show your writing to their readers, and if they tell two friends, and then they tell two friends, there is no way to know until you try …

Monday Morning Minute is set to go out at approximately 5:00 AM mountain time every Monday morning, and it always includes:

  • 100 words of inspiration written by Mark Kolke

  • A quote Mark has selected which connects to the subject of each week’s 100-word piece.

  • These weekly posts are untitled - identified only by their publication date.

Your feedback is welcome and encouraged: Substack encourages writers and publishers to be both clear and open with readers, so if you have questions or feel there is anything missing or something you would like to see or suggest for this publication, please let me know.

Thanks for reading today’s Monday Morning Minute, published weekly at Mark writes here! on Substack. You can subscribe for free - you’ll receive this weekly publication and periodic other work. And, if you like, you can upgrade to a Paid Subscriber, which includes access to additional features. Whichever option suits you, thank you for supporting my work. Also, there is a ‘gift feature’. You give someone a month of Monday Morning Minutes or a year. You’ll be showing them that you appreciate them, and I’ll appreciate you for supporting my work. Thanks, heaps! - Mark Kolke

note to all from Mark Kolke - this was the 'first posting' on Substack - and it looks great, but something went wrong in my set up that didn't send it out to my mailing list. I'm looking into that and hope to have that resolved soon.
